Brooklyn Heights coffee guide: Hicks Street to Pier 6 (October 2026)
Brooklyn Heights coffee, Hicks Street to Pier 6 (October 2026): Joe on Hicks, NAKO on Columbia Place, Diem on Atlantic, Qahwah Time until 10. Hours inside.

Brooklyn Heights runs on an early clock. A lot of the counters here close at 5, the side streets are mostly brownstones, and the Promenade at the end of Montague Street has a railing and a view but no coffee on it. So the cups take a little routing. Here is how the neighborhood pours in October 2026, block by block, with hours taken from each shop page.
Start early on Hicks Street
Joe Coffee at 102 Hicks Street opens at 6:30 on weekdays and 7 on weekends, which makes it the earliest espresso in the north Heights. It stays open until 7 every night, with wifi and outlets if you need them. Reviews keep coming back to the lattes and the pastry case. Grab one and walk west to the Promenade if all you want is the cup and the skyline.
Over on Pineapple Street, Vineapple Cafe at number 71 pours Devoción coffee and serves food from breakfast into dinner, with a backyard out back. This is the room to sit in. Watch the clock, though. Sunday and Monday it closes at 4. Tuesday through Thursday it runs until 9, and Friday and Saturday until 10.

The Columbia Place pair
At the south end of the Heights, Columbia Place is one short block with two very different coffee stops on it.
NAKO Coffee at 18 Columbia Place is the Japanese-French cafe, with a few outdoor seats and a house Nako Latte that reviewers order by name. Bring a laptop on a weekday morning. It opens at 7 (8 on weekends) and closes at 5.
A few doors down, Laundry & Latte at 6 Columbia Place is exactly what the name says: a wash-and-fold laundry with coffee, tea, and pastries at the counter. It stays open until 9 every night. On a Sunday at 8:30, it is one of only two counters in this guide still pouring. Drop off a bag, grab a cup, and walk down the hill to Brooklyn Bridge Park.
Remsen and Henry
Sippy Cafe at 153 Remsen Street leans on matcha. Its flavored matchas and a loaded breakfast sandwich are what reviewers mention most. It opens at 8 on weekdays and 9 on weekends, and closes at 5. Remsen runs straight to the Promenade, so this is an easy cup to carry there.
At the north end of Henry Street, Poppy’s at number 48 is the all-day counter for pastries and sandwiches, with outdoor seats while the weather holds. It runs 8 to 5 every day.
Henry Street lost a fixture this summer. Plymouth Cafe, the breakfast counter at Henry and Pineapple, closed on June 15 after 42 years, and the owners say a new food business is taking the space. It is off our map until something opens there.
Montague and Atlantic
L’Appartement 4F at 115 Montague Street is a French bakery first. People come for the paper-thin laminated croissants and the croissant cereal, and the espresso comes along for the ride. It opens at 8 every day and closes early: 4 on Saturday and Sunday, 4:30 on Thursday. Go in the morning.
Atlantic Avenue is where the Heights meets Cobble Hill. Salter House at 119 Atlantic Avenue is a shop with a cafe inside, and its sister store, Picture Room, is next door. Reviewers like the lattes made with house simple syrup, and the matcha. It opens at 10 on Monday and Tuesday and at 9 the rest of the week, and closes at 6.
A few blocks toward the water, Diem Eatery at 79 Atlantic Avenue is the family-run Vietnamese cafe, with banh mi at the counter and house-made gelato in the case. It is closed Mondays. Tuesday through Friday it opens at 11 and runs until 8. Saturday it goes 10 to 9, and Sunday 10 to 7. Get a banh mi and a coffee and keep walking downhill.
Down at Pier 6
At the foot of Atlantic Avenue, Kaigo Coffee Room sits inside Brooklyn Bridge Park at Pier 6, at 139 Bridge Park Drive. The outdoor seats face the harbor, and reviewers single out the black sesame latte. It opens at 7:30 every day. Coming by water? The NYC Ferry South Brooklyn route stops at Pier 6, and the B63 loops in close too.
After 5
On the east edge, Qahwah Time at 66 Court Street, by Borough Hall, pours Yemeni coffee, including traditional Adeni brews, from 7 in the morning until 10 every night. When the rest of the Heights has stacked its chairs, walk here. For more of these rooms across the borough, see our Yemeni coffee houses guide.
The evening math on a weeknight: Joe until 7, Diem until 8, Laundry & Latte until 9, Vineapple until 9 or 10, and Qahwah Time until 10. On Mondays, Diem is closed and Vineapple shuts at 4, so lean on the last three.
Coming this fall
Alison Roman has said her grocery and cafe, First Bloom, will open a Brooklyn Heights location this fall with a coffee program. The address has not been confirmed (neighborhood talk points to 144 Montague Street), and it is not open yet. We will add it once it pours.
