About Sweetleaf Coffee Roasters
Sweetleaf occupies a former garage on Freeman Street that has been transformed into one of Greenpoint's most distinctive coffee rooms, filled with antique street lamps, mismatched eclectic furniture, vintage signage, and a creative-yet-laid-back atmosphere that earned it a recurring spot on every Greenpoint guide for the past decade. The shop is open every day until 7pm, making it one of the few specialty coffee spots in the neighborhood with reliable evening hours. The extensive beverage menu covers all the third-wave fundamentals (cold brew, cortados, single-origin pour-overs, matcha lattes) but the signature drink is the legendary 'Rocket Fuel': a blend of cold brew, chicory, Vermont maple syrup, and milk that has its own loyal following and shows up on most NYC best-of lists. Sweetleaf roasts its own coffee in Long Island City and supplies wholesale to cafes around the city, but the Greenpoint shop remains the most beloved of the brand's locations.
