Bakeri is a women-owned, Scandinavian-inspired bakery and cafe that has earned a reputation for some of the best baked goods in New York City — most notably a cinnamon bun that consistently appears on best-of-NYC lists. The Greenpoint location on Freeman Street is small, whimsical, and intentionally cozy: pale wood, hanging plants, vintage glass, and a counter case stacked with savory tartines, hand-shaped breads, almond croissants, brioche, and seasonal pastries. The coffee program supports the bakery rather than competing with it — well-pulled espresso drinks, a serious cappuccino that gets called out in reviews as one of the best in Greenpoint, and reliable filter coffee. Bakeri is takeout-only at this location, with no indoor seating, but a few benches outside catch sun in the mornings. It's the kind of shop that becomes a daily ritual for neighborhood regulars and a destination stop for visitors.
